expedia special rates

has anyone gotten credit in a hotel program for using one of expedia's special rates? i need a hyatt stay in sf this wknd and they have a price less than the hyatt's website. should i risk it, or will i get nothing with the discount pricing? i can easily stay at another property (hilton, or holiday inn) for less.

My understanding is that with most hotel programs you get no credit or at best a stay credit (towards VIP status) with no points credit. I believe that http://www.goldpassport.com/dbeb.asp talks about this in point 4 as I believe the expedia rooms count as contracted rooms. Best bet is to call Hyatt and ask.
