Angry Single Passenger Upcharge on AA

I am sure I read in one of the many flyer forums I read that airlines, specifically AA, often charges more per seat if you are booking one passenger as opposed to 2 passengers. I just verified this and it is real! Is there a work around this totally unfair pricing structure...like book 2 seats and cancel one later? This is crazy!

Use an airline which doesn't do that.

Are you talking about booking seats or booking flights?

AA charges you more per person on some flights/routings when you're a single flying compared to when you're booking for two persons.
Reason behind is that they think you're travelling for business when you travel alone.

CRAZY! Have you heard of a work around by booking 2 seats and cancelling one later. I always book with the travel credit option.
