why am I not surprised to see this from you?

totally OT for this thread, but my "same seat on the same jet" story was mid-Aug 2007; went DCA-LAX on AS one morning, came back a couple days later on the return flight departing ~1300 ... they hadn't refreshed the magazine in the seat pocket, because I'd completed the crossword on the outbound
DELee and mtofell like this.

Today was an abnormally long flight due to wind and was a bit over 6 hours. I'm coming up on 50 and keep expecting to feel the "lag" at some point but just never seem to. Am I just not lying far/long enough or am I lucky?
My mother suffers badly from jet lag - even if only changing the clock by an hour.

It doesn't run in the family though as I've never experienced it, not even between west coast USA and London in either direction. I do sleep well on flights but generally just slot into whichever time zone I find myself in. My body clock is pretty much broken though.

I'm sure this might be psychosomatic, but if I fly coach in a seat with someone directly next to me on a long haul flight I get really bad jet lag, takes me days/a week to recover.
If I fly premium economy, or if I have a whole row to myself I barely experience jet lag.
If I fly business or first I generally feel better getting off the plane than before I got on, lol.

After my Qantas business class flight from JFK>LAX>SYD, I was maybe out of it for a night. After a good nights rest I was ready for sightseeing. My first class flight from Tokyo to NYC on Japan Airlines I felt better getting off the plane than on it. Maybe caviar cures jet lag?

From the Mtn. Time Zone to Hawaii (3 hrs in the winter) always messes with me, I'm tired and ready for bed at 8-9pm Hawaiian time for at least 4-5 days. And then up at 5:30-6am. Coming back from Hawaii is not an issue. Quick adjustment. Ugn.
