Hey that's my picture from a 2011 Trip Report I wrote, I'm famous! That was the old United 757-200 PS configuration and you did get a full exit row safety briefing while seated there.
AA used to operate DC-10s where row 1 was considered an exit row, I remember seeing BPs with "EXIT" printed on them.
