Need some help planning trip - please

Hi everyone,

I need some help planning flights for a trip with my wife. We will be travelling to India from San Francisco Bay Area, with the hope of going through Europe.
I don't understand the rules/regulations around stopovers, so I'd like some help from the community here.

Here's the requirements:
1. We should leave from SFO or SJC on Dec 5th.
2. I think we have 2 choices:
a. visit Dublin
b. visit Paris and/or Amsterdam
3. Leave Europe on Dec 10th, arrive in DEL on Dec 11th around 1am (local)
4. Leave DEL on Dec. 13 for home

If we go to Dublin, we'd probably stay there the whole time.
If we go to Paris/Amsterdam, I assume we'd take a train between the two, so we really could fly into one, and out of the other.

I have access to expertflyer.com for 5 days (free trial), so if you have guidance instead of a solution, I'm open to that as well.

In advance, I really appreciate anyone who will take the time to help me out here. I feel like I've been searching for days, and only have a general idea of what it'll cost, but no direction on the best "path" to take.

Other notes:
I have Silver status with Delta.
My wife does not have status.
I have 83,252 miles, but have no idea what that means, or how to use vouchers for my wife or myself.

Thank you,
Chris

chriscam85 Welcome to FT

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/infor...faqs-more.html

Please note that FT is not a travel agency and/or award booking services nor does FT have a secret source of low fares and/or awards
You should consult with a travel agent or search sites such as Google.com/flights. Kayak.com, Expedia.com, etc
Or a real live travel agent in shop.

With only 83k miles, your best bet is to search for cheap paid flights to Delhi, as that's probably not enough miles to get even one roundtrip at this point, though it's hard to know now since Delta doesn't reveal how much awards cost anymore. Also, you're looking for awards very late for an early December trip.

Try Kayak.com or ITA to see what flights are available. As far as a stop in Europe, if it's anything more than 23 hours, you'll probably have to pay a fair amount more.

Good luck, and welcome to FT.

That's quite a trip for a week. Are you sure you want only a few days in Delhi after five in Europe? Out of interest, I checked prices for you, and the cheapest is about $1,400 per person, which is actually less than I expected. I don't think your Delta miles are going to help you a great deal in this case.
