With regard to international inflight service, I would give the nod to Pan Am in the 1960s with its Presidents Special Service and catering by Maxim's. By the early 1970s however, TWA had enhanced its product (which was pretty good as it was before then) with improved Royal Ambassador Service and - to me at least - I think it then became the better overall carrier.
