I've had a bit of a change of heart on this lately.
Long haul I'm still going to sit as far forward as possible with a view to not being help up too badly at immigration. Window/aisle is a bit debatable - I love looking out of the window but I also like being able to get up and wander when I want.
For inter-European shorthaul in Y however, I am now a back of the plane person. It doesn't make much difference in terms of immigration but it does minimise the hassle over luggage space and maximise the chance of getting the row to myself. However I have switched from window seats to aisles with a view to making a reasonably swift exit from the plane.

Sleeping flight - window to lean on, and control of window shade
non-sleeping flight - aisle
upfront always window, even in domestic "F"
Amazingly, openflights keeps track of this for me, so:
70.4% window
24.5% aisle
2% middle

For me, it goes Window>Aisle>middle (is that even an option???)
I always pick the window because of reasons said before like the view, the wall to lean on and the minimal disturbance from other people. I also dont tend to need to get up during flights, especially on the quick 3-4hr flights.
Although, i am starting to understand that i may need to look for aisle seats on longer flights. As far as business or first goes, its whatever is available.

I used to have in my QF profile window for Australia domestic, not because I prefer it (I'd rather have an aisle seat) but because aisle is the most common elite passenger preference and so I got allocated seats considerably further forward with a window default than with an aisle default.

I prefer the aisle if it's on the side of the plane, specially if it's a 2 or 3 seat config.
I dislike the middle seat in a 3-seat config, and also dislike the middle 4 seats unless they're empty.
It was easier when I was single, i would pick window or aisle. Now wife also flies so 1 of us would be in a middle seat........usually her she doesn't mind....I get the aisle....
