It may reduce seat width. I don't want that thing jamming me in the side.

Same concern. Will it really be comfortable?

Territorial issues aside, it might be more comfortable for everyone. You could let your elbow/forearm push up against the barrier.

If the layout is 3 abreast then that device is useless since middles should always have both armrests.

Why do you say that?

Because someone once asserted it on here, and some people liked it enough to repeat it. It's got no basis in fact; the armrests are a free-for-all.

As for the soragami, if it protrudes out into the seat well itself on the other side, I doubt it will be welcome. That said, the basic idea is kind of sound -- a few times when I've hit "leaners" at shoulder level, or folks who are over-assertive in taking the entire armrest, I've found a copy of the inevitable in-flight magazine handy to shove between them and me.

I always let the middle have my arm rest because they have the worst seat and I'm not a jerk.

I am fairly "wide". If the thing doesn't break as I sit down and squeeze into my seat, it might be great. If it does break, not my problem.

According to their ad, this addresses the least significant annoyance in flying. I think they need a new approach to marketing their invention.

Doesn't solve anything ... without it two people can actually use the armrest - one front one aft - with that thing, it is pretty useless to anyone.

I'd also not tolerate a device that overlaps into my seat space.

No comments on the character of posters!

Imaging if someone asserts the opposite based on your statement...

These seem silly in these days of ever narrowing seats...

Never had a problem. If I'm in the window or aisle I give up an arm rest. If I'm in the middle I take whatever was given to me (be it 2, 1 or 0).

Like I said, I'm not a jerk. (No comment on anybody in this thread or on this board, but asserting a standard and not being courteous in my opinion is being a jerk.)
