Frankly this type of question has been asked thousands of times over the years here on Flyertalk, in various forums. You'd be best served by searching in the United and Air France forums for experiences on SFO-CDG.

I haven't been here "over the years" as you put it and I can understand the need to do a search. However, If this subject has been asked thousands of times over the years here on Flyertalk, in various forums then why not be kind enough to provide a link to the various answers. I would think that "over the years" First class/ business travel has changed so an up to date opinion regarding. the current climate of travel was in order. Thanks for the suggestions.

Or you can go to the trip report forum where there are again always new reports of international first class trips such as this one on Air France. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-...-af-new-p.html
The main lesson to learn is that this is the Amex forum and this is where we tackle subjects related to American Express. So the only relevance here is how you might be able to use Amex reward points to book a SFO-CDG trip.

Never again will fly United biz SFO - CDG. We both were miserable. So miserable, in fact, that I canceled our return flight (non refundable) and booked AF La Premiere full freight. We return to France in July and will be flying AF again, in biz.

I understand. However If Intended to use Amex reward points to book a SFO-CDG trip, (which i indicated earlier in the thread i would consider) wouldn't it be prudent to ask what the first class experience is going to be? But again thanks for your kind direction.^

It's not the end of the world if you ask the question here, but it's certainly better for everyone if you follow the forum structure.

No, and here's why. Many of the real experts who fly AF very often and who could give you great advice do not follow this forum. They follow the AF forum which is where we discuss in great detail all about AF. Ditto for the UA forum, etc. Also the next person who wonders about how AF is on SFO-CDG would easily find your question and resulting discussion in the AF forum and wouldn't think to look here. That's why we separate things out in this structure.

Moderator action
Thread transferred out of American Express because the discussion has run out of momentum, and is not specifically about redeeming Membership Rewards points. This forum should provide a broader audience, but the Travel Buzz moderators may know of an even more appropriate venue.

AF First Class (P) is indeed a very memorable experience. It's not only in the air where you have the best and most professional service in the sky, but also on the ground at CDG where they have one of the best first class lounges in the world and drive you to and from the plane in a limo. There's an private Alain Ducasse restaurant in the lounge if that give you any idea, and with a few limited exceptions, only people with first class tickets are allowed in. Elite status doesn't count.
All that said, you will have to a small loan out against your house to fly in AF P!

If you want to fly real F, fly real F. F is about more than just the seat.
If you want non-stop with real F, AF is your only choice. It is also the better product.
