You don't have to be a old-timer to do a search. And you can even search on Google. But if you go to the United forum for example, and enter CDG first class, and limit the search to just one year back from today (people are constantly posting about this subject so there are always fresh threads), you'll see 30+ threads. The main lesson to learn is that this is the Amex forum and this is where we tackle subjects related to American Express. So the only relevance here is how you might be able to use Amex reward points to book a SFO-CDG trip.
