Booking exit row without status

Do any airlines in the U.S. allow passengers without status to choose exit rows at the time of booking? If so, is there an extra fee?

United does for a fee, others probably too. Years ago non status pax could book exit rows for free, but I doubt that is true on any US airline any more.

I just obtained silver on Delta and US Airways. I have had exit rows before obtaining any status and without a fee. However, I have seen where they charge for the exit row. $eems like another mystery at the airport sighting

I was able to book an exit row last week on AA, first flight with them so no status, but 20 dollars for a window exit on a 2 hour 45 minute flight is quite reasonable in my mind. Better than playing the 40 dollar lottery on Southwest. All that happens is you select your seat like normal, and a popup comes up to let you know the rules of traveling in that seat.

Delta opens available exit row and other "Preferred Seats" for purchase by non-status pax starting at T-24 hours. Fees vary by seat location and flight destination.

More info at Delta's Preferred Seating page.

AA does. I had to pay like 25 bucks each way for them on my upcoming ORD-PHX trip. They also kindly offered them on the ERJ-145 segments to/from my hometown and ORD which is silly when the jet is a 1-2 config.
