I was able to book an exit row last week on AA, first flight with them so no status, but 20 dollars for a window exit on a 2 hour 45 minute flight is quite reasonable in my mind. Better than playing the 40 dollar lottery on Southwest. All that happens is you select your seat like normal, and a popup comes up to let you know the rules of traveling in that seat.
