Map of all world flights...

.....if you like those maps of the world at night-time, where the urban areas glow brightly.....here's a map of all the world's flights, city-to-city, such that ATL and LHR glow brightest and you can contrast the "dark" areas with few flights.

(The maps don't sure actual flight paths, but just a city-to-city straight-line)
enjoy!

Facinating, and thanks for sharing. The last point is interesting, and I guess I hadn't realized it until I read it (forest through the trees...). There aren't any contintent outlines on the map, but the flight O/Ds define them anyway.

Odd map.
No way US look that dark compared to Europe, particularly if look at the flightradar24 air traffic, any time of day and night.

I like the ones that show flights over time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ystkKXzt9Wk

I haven't seen a global one.

I wondered about that too. But when you think about it, cities in Europe as a whole are much closer together. There aren't vast areas of nothingness like there is in the western USA.
