Map of all world flights...
.....if you like those maps of the world at night-time, where the urban areas glow brightly.....here's a map of all the world's flights, city-to-city, such that ATL and LHR glow brightest and you can contrast the "dark" areas with few flights.
(The maps don't sure actual flight paths, but just a city-to-city straight-line) enjoy! http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_te...wpisrc=flyouts |
Facinating, and thanks for sharing. The last point is interesting, and I guess I hadn't realized it until I read it (forest through the trees...). There aren't any contintent outlines on the map, but the flight O/Ds define them anyway.

That is so cool! Thanks for sharing.

Odd map.
No way US look that dark compared to Europe, particularly if look at the flightradar24 air traffic, any time of day and night. |
I like the ones that show flights over time - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ystkKXzt9Wk
I haven't seen a global one. |
