Electric toothbrush question
Good afternoon,
I am not sure if this is the right place for this question, but my daugther has braces and prefers to use her electric toothbrush. Can this go in a carry on or does it have to go in the checked luggage.
I do prefer it to be in a carry on so we don't risk it getting broken.
I am flying Air Canada from Canada to the US if that makes any difference.
Thank you!!!
Kim

It will just show upon the x-ray as any other piece of electric consumer item, so just keep it from being lumped together with other heavier mass items (laptop brick for example) and you should be okay in a carry on.
Usual caveat about the predictable unpredictability of airport screening, but at most it would just need a secondary look by a screener.

Electric toothbrush question
I have taken my electric tooth brush on every trip in the last year (in hand luggage). That 75 flights and I have never had an issue with this.
I've been flying from LHR to other European cities.

CLT used to doublecheck my toothbrush when I used one of the $15 rechargeable ones, but now that I have a sonicare I have no issues with TSA.

My son carries his and I think we were asked to pull it out and show it to the agent only twice, out of almost 10 trips. So, green in my experience.

In over 200 trips (over many years), I've never had an issue with my battery operated toothbrush.

I use a battery operated crest spin brush and have never had an issue with it in carryon for over 7 years and a mix of domestic and international flights.

I've carried one for years (albeit I am an infrequent traveler) and there have only been two times it's drawn the slightest attention from security.
#1 was a family emergency trip where I packed *VERY* quickly, I simply threw what I thought I would need in a bag and headed off to the airport to see what was flying. (This was before the internet and it was a short hop with lots of flights.) Since my bag wasn't completely full nor properly packed things shifted and all the electronics (and especially the charger wires) ended up in a pile which of course took an eyeball. The toothbrush wasn't singled out, it was just part of the pile.
#2 was PVG, the x-ray gal asked about seeing what looked like two toothbrushes in my bag. I pointed to my wife, "two people, two toothbrushes" and that was the end of that. The bag was never opened. (Note: China's airport security is *MUCH* more friendly than the TSA. Even when my SIL lost a prohibited liquid the screener was apologetic, not hostile.)

Just packed my electric toothbrush in my carry on for my flight tomorrow. I always take it, never an issue in the carry on.

Carried my Sonicare for years without ever having a security issue. I recommend carrying it in a case, however. Twice now I've packed it "naked" in my tolietries kit and somehow the start button has been pressed while in the overhead. We were all looking around, trying to identify where the strange humming sound was coming from. Imagine my delight in having to get up and unpack it in front of everyone in order to turn it off.

Just make sure that the switch is not positioned to accidentally shift to "On", or the TSA and the folks around her as she passes through security will not suspect that she's carrying another sort of handheld device....

what does the dentist say about using a waterpik . i also carry a portable one of those. i get a lot of painful checking and harrashment in muc and fra, i think they think i will let them keep it. i demand higher and higher level management. they also tried to take a friend's cushioned toilet seat. make certain to leave at least 2 hrs for plane change in fra and munich. i have never had any problem with my electric tooth brush.

I've carried my Electric Toothbrush through security hundreds of times. Just hand carry it.
