Does anybody else miss multi stop flights?
I kinda miss them to an extent. I used to enjoy wandering around the terminal, getting a new country on my list, seeing an airport I woud not otherwise have seen.
Now its all non stop direct which is convenient but less exciting.

There's no such thing as a non stop direct flight anywhere from New Orleans. Well, maybe to MEM, ATL, LAX, or DTW, but that's it really. As the song goes, How can I miss you if you won't go away? But if you consider wandering about a terminal to be enough to count as getting a new country on your list, bless your heart, honey, you don't travel the way I travel anyway. OK, I'm ribbing you a little but c'mon, admit it, it's a wind-up. :-)

For example if you have a flight from say JFK-LHR-MAD you spend about 2 hours in LHR. You are physically on British soil. You have therefore been to the UK.
I know all the arty [edited by Moderator] traveller types try to say 'oh that doesnt count' but logically it does.

I used to love flying and visiting new airports, etc. Now that I've been flying 60+ times a year for a few years it's just another mode of transport and the quicker I can get on and off at my ultimate destination the better.

If my feet have physically walked on that nation's soil I have been to that country.

I would rather not walk on the soil though.
In my experience, multi-stop flights were nice when I first started flying.
DEL-MCT-AUH-DAM-MUC-LHR-AMS-JFK ( about 48 hours) was my first trip many many years ago. It was kind an adventure.
I woudld rather not

I only count visits if I actually do something. Because of that I've transited DEN many times but still don't consider myself to have visited Colorado.

But if you are simply in transit have you actually stepped foot on that nation's soil?? Or is it just a building somewhere?
