A380 ugly?

Do you find the A380 to be one ugly plane? I mean, usually I think of airplanes as pretty but the A380 just looks...ungainly. Like a crippled stork or something.

It's not about size. I think the 747 is iconic and graceful and beautiful. But the A380 just looks...not quite right.

Thoughts?

The size of the A380 is amazing, but I agree that it is ugly. The 747 is a beautiful bird.

Everything is relative.

Look at the Airbus Beluga for a while and the A380 is stunning beauty in comparison.

I agree. Someone (Patrick Smith maybe?) once called it the "Flying Forehead."

I hadn't heard of it. Just looked it up - I'm amazed that thing flies!

The 747 is ugly too, but has a cachet due to the 1970s 'jumbo' hype.

Don't get me wrong; it's a significant airplane and a success for Boeing but it's no beauty. 707, yes.

The Vickers VC-10 looked nice but few airlines bought it.

The BAe 146 is ugly but I liked it as a passenger.

If we're looking at beauty, I like the 767-300ER and the A340-300. Among obsolete jets, the Concorde and the L1011-1 looked nice. The 737-200 Combi doesn't look bad either but the newer 737's don't look as nice (tail is uglier and engines too big).

I actually think the A380 is quite cute (which seems bizarre for something that size) - it seems to be concentrating terribly hard and just a litte bit worried.

The plane with the nicest 'face' is the 757.

Best looking plane ever is obviously Concorde.

It's not ugly. It's just less attractive.

The 747 is a beauty.

I kinda think it's an ugly jet as well.

Now the Connie/Super Connie is a sexy bird!

Agreed. The 747 is a beautiful bird, and the new 747-8 with it's immense wing flex is a real sight to behold.

Have you seen the 380 in person?

I've seen this bird on the ground, and on JFK approach (looking up as it approached and flew right over me at 1000 - 1500 feet (300+ meters).

Beautiful and graceful.

I agree. I think 747 is beautiful, as well as iconic and unique. But when I saw a picture of a 747, gosh it was ugly.
