Do you find the A380 to be one ugly plane? I mean, usually I think of airplanes as pretty but the A380 just looks...ungainly. Like a crippled stork or something.
It's not about size. I think the 747 is iconic and graceful and beautiful. But the A380 just looks...not quite right.
Thoughts?

As long as it gets me there safely, in relative comfort, I don't care what it looks like.

+1 The last 380 I was on was certainly more comfortable than the last 747.
One may spend minutes looking at an aircraft... but one spends HOURS inside it...
Anyway.. my favourite aircraft are all... "functionally ugly"...
The DHC Twin Otter and the A-10 fr'nstance!

I love the the beefy look of an A380, just blows away the 787, the "pencilneck" of contemporary aircraft.
But then I suppose my view is a little prejudiced!

On a side note, one of my favourite aircraft, the B-52 Stratofortress (made by Boeing) is a great looking bird IMO but it's also known as s BUFF (big ugly fat f**ker).

Majestic. That's what comes to mind when I hear or see the name B52.

Some years ago I attended the Farnborough airshow in England on business back when the A380 was first being introduced. I had the opportunity to walk right up to the nose and look up at it.
I have to admit it looked quite ugly from that perspective. Talk about a large, ungainly Gallic nose! Kinda reminded me of Gen. De Gaulle.....
However, Airbus then performed a flying demonstration with the A380. It looked almost graceful as it soared over the airfield in a series of choreographic banks and turns.
But I also have to admit that I find the new passenger version of Boeing 747-8 to be a very elegant and beautiful looking airplane.
