Long Days - How to keep going

Hi All,

How do you manage those long days with travel at either side? I suspect you are all probably experts at this now! After a long week how do you manage that early start (~5:30am) and late arrival home (~22:45); with two LONG meetings in the middle that require your full attention.

Do you pay more attention to what you eat, get friendly for the coffee machine or sleep on your morning travel (assume you aren't driving) and snooze on the way back? Or do you just keep going until you hit the wall of the day?

Thanks!

It's very common for me to work all night (12+ hours), fly for 12 hours (usually in a couple of legs) and then have to drive for an hour or more once I'm on deck again so I try and avoid coffee, etc on my night, sleep on the jet and then hammer the coffee about an hour or so before landing. That usually gets me through the rest of the day. A good breakfast somewhere in between and a good multivitamin also help.

I'm lucky. I'm small, and I can sleep anywhere, at any time. This means I can cat-nap even in economy. I am prone to migraines though. I avoid those by being super careful about staying hydrated. I take multivitamins every day when I am on the road, carry protein bars in case I'm running late and have to skip a meal, and never ever pass up the chance for a drink even if I am not thirsty at the time.
