What's going on with UA847?

I've been checking out UA847 for the last week since I'm taking the flight soon, and noticed it has been very late, including up to several hours multiple days in a row, and with a cancellation on Saturday.

In the past, I always took this flight when the routing was IAD-EZE and there were rarely problems, except when south america was dealing with the volcano ash. This is my first year taking it as EWR-EZE, and the numbers for the last 10 days look disastrous, and I'm wondering why.

UA seems to be having a lot of equipment problems with their widebodies. They're either stretched too thin, aren't maintaining their planes sufficiently, or something. I've been amazed at how many UA flights go mechanical, much more than I've ever experienced with NW/DL, particularly on longhauls.

IIRC, one of the reasons mentioned was that this flight is flown with an sUA aircraft, and CO doesn't stock the necessary parts at EWR.

How the heck does the sun not set on an afternoon eastward europe bound flight?! (that arrives on the next day?!) you must have meant DME-IAD.

are you guys seeing this, today's 847 is delayed from 9:50 tonight to 12pm TOMORROW, 14 hours. this is insane, it shows for aircraft servicing, and the inbound flight was on time. this is just incredible. i'm taking this flight wednesday and am horribly worried.

I posted that a while ago in the International Delays/Cancellations thread.

flight is late almost every day, canceled about one a week, and only flies out once every 24 hours. being stuck in newark for a day sounds terrible.

Look for it to be delayed again tomorrow. Aircraft making up UA 847 is heading to IST tonight on a 2 hour delay with the return to EWR already 90 mins delayed.

A 1:39 AM arrival in EZE is not pretty. You may want to book a car service EZE-Hotel before your flight, I am not sure what the taxi situation will be at that hour.

Good call. Just got a car ($$$) from Hyatt just so I don't have to hassle.
