Customs and Connecting Flights
(I apologize in advance if this is in the wrong forum.)
I booked a round trip flight from NYC to Grenada, and there are layovers in both directions of about 55 minutes. On the way to Grenada, the layover is in Miami, so while 55 minutes may be tight, I feel pretty good about making it. On the way back, we'll have a 50-minute layover in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I don't know why it didn't occur to me beforehand, but will I have to go through customs in San Juan? If so, I can't imagine how we will possibly make it through in time.

Yes, you will have to clear customs in San Juan. Are you a US citizen? I've never cleared in San Juan do I don't know the airport or how long the lines are, but that seems tight. Also, will you have checked luggage, if yes, then almost impossible

You can get the average wait times by date and time here

I would try for a later flight out of San Juan, I think you are cutting it pretty tight

Are these legal connections on one ticket? What is minimal connecting time from international to domestic?

AA MCT at SJU is 50 minutes if one flight is on AA2700-5099, for what it's worth. Without more specifics from the OP I am only taking a random guess.
