+2 +3. I will tell you that our kids (2.5 yo twins) spend a lot of time in the lounges in Boston, particularly because AA has a special kids' area (with a door and everything). If there is not a kids' area, the creatures stay in their strollers or hold onto Mom and Dad at all times. Just as nobody wants my kids running around the lounge, I want them within a foot of me at all times so that nothing happens to them. I'm not saying this to be praised as father of the year. Rather, they need to learn at an early age that in a public place, ANY public place, they need to behave. Still, they're 2.5 years old and can't be expected to be saints at all times. So if they begin to act up, whenever possible, we remove them. Being a parent is often a frustrating, tiring job, but consistency is the name of the game. Mike |

Very good post from someone that has accepted what it means to be a parent. If you don't want this type of responsibility and/or not change your lifestyle remain childless.
Something I do that parents seem to appreciate, is if I am sitting near a young child and they are very well behaved, make it a point to tell the parent how well behaved their kid was. |

It was just his observation. and you can't tell me there are times you wouldn't feel like the OP where you see a couple bratty kids driving you crazy and you think, "crap, why am i back here."
I just think the snooty remarks of posters who rarely show any compassion and write the standard "you can get your own private jet or shut up" is way over the top. That tone makes it hard for people to really engage on the boards because pretty much any annoying travel story that has some funny parts to it is off limits because the same group of people come in with the same comments. All i'm saying is that i understand his frustration, and i think that's all that poster and similar posters want to hear. If I ask why am I back here its b/c I am wondering why my upgrade didn't clear, not why are there five kids in F. To me, it doesn't matter if its five kids, five fat guys, five hot chicks, five non-rev.. the matter of fact is that I'm in Y and someone else (doesn't matter who) is in F. you get the same comments b/c this is the same topic that gets rehashed over and over. The answers stay the same on your last paragraph, it sounds like you just want a "YES" man to agree with everything you say; its definitely the wrong place to find that |

Here's a couple of thoughts: Perhaps thier parents paid for it. Or they were upgraded by their parents! Or, like my kids, perhaps they are Elites and were upgraded through normal channels.:eek: |

Presumably you paid for a coach seat, so why is it your concern who's sitting in F? Is it that you and your wife didn't get a free upgrade? If so, that's life. Someone else paid for those seats with cash or miles, or perhaps someone had higher status than you. Either way, that's really none of your business. All you need to know is that you didn't get upgraded.
Or maybe you have a philosophical problem with kids in F. If that's the case, then (as someone already pointed out) US disagrees with you and your opinion isn't particularly relevant. A few months ago my family and I flew in F on a DCA-PHX-SNA-PHX-DCA vacation. The dirty looks that my 2 kids got made me smile at these peoples' self-induced misery. If you want to resent what other people do with their money or miles, go for it. But I can assure you we had a great time up in F (and were treated very well by all of the FAs) and we'll continue to travel that way as money and miles permit -- your indignation notwithstanding. Wow! You have been here for 8 months and this is your 4th post!?! Glad you save your posts for a great comment like that.^ We (wife and 2 young teens) were flying CLT-DFW-FRA and got upgraded using my SWUs. The kids got some dirty looks as people filed past them on the domestic 1st class seg. Never mind that they were AA PLT at the time. I'm sure there were some elites who didn't clear, some were probably kettles with class envy. (thinking how can these kids afford to pay to sit up here) On the DFW-FRA seg they were playing around with NGBC seat and one pax looks down at them and said "You two are living large!" All I thought was "Back to steerage with you!" |

Once after completing a transaction in a retail establishment I turned to step away from the counter to leave. At that time there was a child, less than two years old, standing within inches of me. I didn't notice anyone near me, so I started to move and almost tripped over and possibly trampled the child. Fortunately I caught myself in time. There was no way I would have known the child was there unless I looked directly down at the floor, which is something one would not normally do. The child's mothers reaction to this was to yell at me, "Watch out! Watch out!". Apparently she thought it was the responsibility of a stranger to watch out for her child and not hers. |

The PMNW FA's use the excuse they are there for your safety when they want to get out of providing a predeparture drink service:) Not sure how much safety they are providing when the plane is on the ground, cockpit and boarding doors open and they are up in the galley gossiping:confused:

I think FAs human nature is to provide minimal drink service because its difficult to execute.. Heard this on HOU-CUN last week when the FAs mentioned this.. they are are supposed to run up and down the aisles with drinks twice.. but decided only to do it once.. and commented to me about it..

With the one drink service in the air, did they at least do a Predeparature? If I was on a PAID FC ticket I would be upset if they only offered me one drink. The good ones on Delta in First will offer you a predeparture drink (and sometimes a refill but I really don't care about the refill) and will usually go through the cabin regularly asking if you want something else.
I'm sure First Class got cartblanche.. |
