Can i bring sand on a plane?

First hand info. Sand is not a problem. I had 2 kilos in my carry-on and they just asked what it is and let me pass.

Just put some sand in a double ziplock bag and put it in your suitcase and be done with it. No one is going to care.

Do it all the time internationally for a buddy of mine, never has been an issue!

This. Though the double bagging is just to protect suitcase contents. Mrs. Deubster has a shelf in her "home office" that has a dozen or more small decorative bottles with labels indicating which beach the sand came from. We've brought it home from Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe, and several spots on all 3 US coasts without incident or fuss from TSA.

We bring sand on the plane all the time.. lol

There always seems to be sand in our shoes.. travelling out of any beach destination..

Cant be anything to do with the island itself as the sand in Hawaii was imported their from my home town Port Kembla NSW Australia!!
