Cape Town, South Africa--stunning landscape (mountains, oceans, beaches), great outdoor activities, and a unique African-European charm that can't be found elsewhere on the African continent.

San Francisco, CA--stunning landscape again (hills, the Bay) and an urban, cosmopolitan mix of people, ideas and cultures that is hard to find in any other US city.

Hey all!

Hope you are all doing great. I love to travel and enjoy travel spots present there. What's the best place you had visited? I personally prefer Egypt. What's yours?

Welcome!

Having been a tour director for over ten years and visiting every continent, this is a common question I get. This is my answer, non-answer as it may be:

"I don't have a favorite place, because there are too many great places out there. But if I were told I could go to only one more place and then have to stay in my home country/city for the rest of my life, I'd go to Antarctica, hands down."

Rio de Janeiro. It was the only city I've been to I'd call "beautiful". Maybe I was overly enamored by Sugarloaf rising over the city and Copacabana Beach but I really love that city...crime and poverty nonwithstanding.

Easter morning at Machu Picchu.
Galloping on a camel through Petra as the sun was just starting to set.
Getting my 85 year old dad into a pyramid at Giza.
Celebrating my Mom's 80th birthday over a cup of tea in Morocco.
And last but not least, champagne at the top of the Eiffel Tower in the moonlight!

Famara, Lanzarotte.

A million miles away from the tacky touristy eastern part of the island, this is possibly the most peaceful place I've ever been, and I still go back there in my head several times a day.

I don't think I've found the "best" place in the world yet, but the islands of Iceland and Seychelles are pretty high up on my list so far.

I've still got lots to see, and I'm pretty sure I will continue to be amazed!

Hands down my favorite-ever vacation, a two-week camping safari I took in 2000.
