Berlin and Iceland, the two places I had most dearly wished to visit for as early as I knew there was a world out there.
Special mention to New York City, my first ever trip outside of Canada. I'll never forget how happy I was when I first stepped outside our school trip coach.

Eritrea. Friends lived there for a year . Specifically, Nacfa, Eritrea. I still cannot believe that we managed to get there. The country had just begun to mobilize for the most recent war so it was an interesting and unforgettable experience.

My favorite place is home and the state I live in. To quote a song "I like calling North Carolina home".

Niagara Falls - really! It sounds cheesy and touristy but I am an exercise freak and jogging in front of the falls and upriver early in the morning was incredible. I had the whole place practically to myself and it was a great experience. Also taking the boat trip and all those walking tours behind and down the falls was great. The power and fury of those falls is amazing. On the American side you can actually walk down, reach over the scaffolding and put your hand in the falls.
I've been to Europe and South America numerous times but Niagara Falls is the trip that really stands out in my memory.
Munich Germany is a very close second. MMM, beer.
I must admit, I did not like Paris. I found it simultaneously scummy and pretentious with ubiquitous, bothersome streethawkers. Oh well, to each his own, that's what makes the world go round.

Alot of great places, but the "best" depends upon timing.....
At 22, my first extended stay in NYC.
At 42, a week of business in Edinburgh, sandwiched between a week of liesure, mostly, in Southwest Scotland and a week of liesure in the West and Highlands.
At 69, almost by accident, Olomouc, Czech Rep., a combination of circumstances and people which made almost an accidental visit rewarding and more than memorable.
Barcelona, 1964 and 2010, proving that Wolf was wrong. "You can go home again." (and "Why did I not return sooner?")

My favorite place has to be where ever I am currently visiting...in this case the Florida Keys, but next month Grand Cayman, last month Tuscany. However the place I will return to for no other reason but to feel at peace and in awe is Paris.

- Bali
- Skagen
- Paris
- Hong Kong
And an honorable mention to St. Petersburg (RU), especially during the White Nights... such a beautiful and unique city...
Ultimately, we'd be very hard-pressed to pin it down to just one, but we'd be more than content making Bali and Paris our home-bases whilst visiting the remaining thousands of places still on our list... and will probably end up doing so when Mr re-retires...
