Shortest flight with largest aircraft

There are posts about current longer routes using RJ's, flights are over 3 hours. What about the reverse. What short routes are being flown with larger aircraft, especially widebody aircraft.
Back in the 1970's, you would see wide-body aircraft flying say FLL-MIA
on EA and DL, usually for aircraft positioning or route consolidation. Also, LAX-SAN, today your lucky to even find a RJ on that route let alone a larger aircraft.
I have seen a 757-300 on CO flying IAH-SAT and AUS. On AA, I see
757's flying MC0-MIA. I have seen on US Airbus flying PHL-LGA.
I am looking for on the current schecule for largest aircraft scheduled to fly over the shortest route.

KLM flies the 74 mile Aruba-Curacao hop with a 747. It's a tag on from the much longer haul from AMS though.

I was also able to find CCJ-COK (Kozhikode, India-Kochi, India) flown by Air India on a 747 as well. This is also 74 miles.

Last week I found myself on a US flight from CLT-PHL that used a 767. And once I was on a Pakistani Airways flight from Islamabad to Karachi that used a 747. I was on the upper deck...in coach!

I was on a LH 744 from DXB-AUH a few years back. Again it was simply a tag on from the longer FRA-DXB flight though.

Most airlines in the States do not use tag-on scheduling anymore. Maybe
Southwest comes closest to doing this on their route structure. UA used to have a IAD-PHX-TUS some years ago using an Airbus. The tag on is consolidating routes but IAD-PHX probably generates much more traffic then
IAD-TUS. If you want to go IAD-TUS you would have to connect at ORD
or DEN.

What would be the cruise altitude on this sort of flight?

Hi,

Wikipedia has a partial list:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-sto...ortest_flights

including SQ106: SIN-KUL 191 miles on a 777.

Cheers,

Air France has scheduled some flights from CDG-LHR (216 miles) on their new A380. Probably the shortest segment we will see on that aircraft for awhile.

Last year I did HKT-BKK in a 747. Flight was about 45 minutes. I was upgraded to the "business" section in the nose tip. The seats were big but the only refreshments served on board was a glass of orange juice.

AA used to fly a DC-10 from DFW to AUS (the old Mueller airport) to park overnight. Apparently the overnight fee was less than at DFW. Interestingly, the flight was often full.

I don't know if it is still operating, but UA has been flying LHR-BRU on a 777. I believe it is only a 32 minute flight..
