Window seat and getting out
Why do the middle and aisle seat passengers sometime get offended when the window person wants to get out, I realize it's a pain but that is how it is on an aircraft...we have to make adjustments...why can't these people understand it?
I've had some people look really pissed off that their sleep/movie/music whatever was interrupted...

I suppose if 30 minutes into the flight people want to go to the john, one wonders about their poor planning. Personally I am probably like most FT members and strive to avoid 3 seat wide rows if at all possible and avoid the problem.

Well.. that depends...
Given how often on a multi hour flight I need to get up I always book an aisle seat... (It's a medical thing)
Were I (or someone like me) to book window seats on purpose then I think that would be very selfish... It would be like: "I want to look out the window.. so it doesn't matter that I'm going to be up and down like a yoyo...you can just put up with it"
I have had that happen... and so yes, I'd agree some people ARE just jerks. It isn't always the middle/aisle seat occupant though!

I book aisle seats because they make me happy. And less cranky. I also know that I am giving up the right to full use of the armrest in coach, the right to stretch out me and myself and never move, and the consequence of the carts and people on the move.
Big deal, I am still happy in the aisle and will move for you whenever you want. It always reminds me to move and stretch for my circulation and to not sit there like a stone.
Remember it is a plane, not Motel 6. Funniest thing I have recently witnessed, this wacko dude in coach on a PVG to DTW flight. He actually got into his own PJs (not even good enough for the Motel 6) and then tried to preside over the "cocktail area" (where they put the extra water in coach)(next to the lav) and regale everyone with his travels and business relationships. Thought I would pee when the pilots came on the PA 13 hours later and said we were landing in 30 minutes (1 hour early) and to start to prepare for landing. He was still in his PJ's enjoying his breakfast. Landed in Detroit in 40 degree F weather with him in shorts, tee and flip flops. I just love traveling.

If I need to get out of my window seat.. i ask politely, and say thanks when the person(s) move so that i can get out.. After that, I'm not privy to what they think.

I have seen it in F also.
- The person might have had a tight connection.
- They might have been held up at immigration or customs prior to getting on your flight.
- They might have been VIP'd by TSA.
- They just had an urge to go as they had had some thing to drink while waiting for the flight, and now it has mad it through to their bladder.
- They might have a medical issue where they need to go more frequently than you or most people.
^. Nor should anyone care what the person in the aisle seat thinks. I realise it's inconvenient for Mr Aisle seat to get up, but that's what aisle seat is about. The person apologizes and thanks them, what else is there to fume about?

I always ask for a window seat because I don't like to be bothered to let others out. Normally when I'm at the window seat, I don't get up for the duration of the flight, but go stretch my legs if the others are up and about. I try not to interrupt my seat mates.

Agreed. All passengers should have the right to get up and into the aisle whenever they so choose, window seats included. Choosing an aisle seat involves such a compromise--the convenience of the aisle is offset by having to get up for your seatmates whenever they need/choose to. Even if they choose to get up once an hour on a 12-hour long-haul, it is still their right. Whether that's a courteous move or not, that's for another thread.

The only time I got annoyed was when I was on crutches in an aisle seat. I had fallen asleep and the guy in the window tried to crawl over me rather than wake me up when he needed to go to the lav. In the process of crawling over me (gross in its own accord) he managed to kick my leg (it was in a brace from a torn hamstring) and almost knock me out of my seat. I screamed in pain and prolly woke up half the flight.
