I'm surprised that churches and other Traveler's Aid type of groups haven't set up programs to help stranded Europeans find shelter while they're stuck here in the States. I have taken several trips to Europe and could not have afforded to extend my trip by several days because I wouldn't be able to pay a hotel for that. I'd welcome a guest in my home if I knew how to make the offer. European, in general, are very welcoming to traveling strangers. It seems like the right thing to do to help people in need. Has anyone heard of any sort of organization for this?
Cheers

Rome is open and operating, but Milan and the other northern Italy airport were closed again shortly after reopening.

N830MH - are you still stranded in Switzerland? I cannot help you directly as you don't seem to have a pm facility, but if you wish to contact me to see if we can do something to help, please pm me. Sorry that there's not a lot of time left between now and Tuesday ...
From the current info, if you can get south to Rome, there seem to be flights operating, and there are good rail services including overnights from Zurich and Geneva (and Basel) via Milan if that helps.

It is worth noting that Scottish Airports actually did re-open on Friday night and BA attempted flights from the USA. However, the cloud quickly returned and most of the flights were forced to turn back. My worry is that the UK airports will re-open tomorrow only to find they have to close again maybe Wednesday.

Switzerland airspace now has been reopened again tomorrow. YAY!!! I can't wait to get back on the air for next couple days later. So I will try to fly back home soon as possible. We have go to ZRH airport tomorrow if my ticket will have rebooked for next flight sometimes Wednesday or Thursday if I can barely make it back home in USA.
