Loved The Aviary which is about flight attendants and was actually written by a flight attendant. Has some of the same dark comedic elements and themes as Up In The Air.

I don't think it's in their IFE rotation anymore. I haven't been on NH since, but their website doesn't show it. And while NH sponsored a few US screenings, a full release here is, of course, doubtful.

Also worth noting, in the film, the plane falls victim to bird strikes right after takeoff. No joke. This was right before Sully's miracle, actually.

I would second (third?) others and recommend "Airport" - The subsequent 'sequels' are largely rubbish, but this film is quite watchable.

In terms of cheese-ball action, I also like "Executive Decision."

The absolute classic. Sadly, what was created as a ridiculous farce, has, in a case of life imitating art, become all to realistic.

Yea, I like that movie as well, just like you, I watched it in the past January in NH, and I was even on the plane that they filmed the movie, JA8096, unforunately that plane is no longer with NH anymore.

I especially like the scene when the newly FA was given a bottle of the Japanese made diaherra medicine (正露丸), then somehow the bottle fell off her pocket while secure the food cart during take off, the bottle roll all the way down to the aisle with the cap also roll open (what a coincident), then the pax smell something horrible wonder what that is.

If one is not Japanese or asia born asian would not have understand the joke at all.

Fate is the Hunter, about an aircraft crash investigation. Ernest K Gann's book of the same title is much better and not at all like the film.

God, why did I not think of throwing that out there. Best movie ever. If only for the famous Samuel L. Jackson line.

Can't believe I forgot about that one!

Very enjoyable movie. The 'airport' set that they built for the film had real businesses in it - The fast food establishments actually cooked fast food for the crew.

So there actually were US screenings? How did you find out about them?

I read online somewhere that they screened it in SF, NYC and Philadelphia, I think. Why they did Philly (since it's not NH territory, though it is US), I don't know.
