+1 for aerolopa. A problem with seatguru and other similar sites is the ranking of “best” and “worst” seats. For the most part, there may be a couple “bad” seats on a plane, but seatguru would make it seem like whole regions were bad. Similarly, the airlines have monitized the “good” seats.
Perhaps if they allow comments that would help. But too many people want to be spoonfed and don’t spend the time to think about what they’re doing. |

Aerolopa is my go to. The FTer who created it has threads in many forums to collect input. I believe there is also a thread in Travel Tools for feedback.

Aerolopa doesn't show comments by seat. Just a layout. That was what made Seatguru great.

Exactly. Knowing whether a seat reclines or not is important.
But it's really mostly FTers who pay attention to aircraft types and what kind of seat layout by aircraft type, airline, etc. |

In the version to be released shortly, registered users will be able to see meta data for the aircraft, the cabins and ultimately individual seat data. Initially you will see that each seat is individually coded by its coordinates and can be selected and we will be populating seat level meta data across the entire portfolio. We have all the data but it will take some time to complete. This will make it possible to see individual recline values for each seat as well as other seat related information. New features after the launch will enable people to give individual seats a thumbs up or thumbs down and also add their own comments for an individual seats. We may provide a facility for users to upload pictures too. Once we've transitioned from the legacy site to the new custom-made engine we will be able to roll out a whole host of useful features. |

Either comments or a rating system or both. Maybe not individual seats but maybe a ranking of the different seats for a given cabin.

Would be nice if you could just register with a Google or Apple account. Or even FB.

That's why you go to the airline's page and cross check with your flight seat map. Easy to do.

What is the last row numbered? It could be that Alaska has the seat map mislabeled due to an impending aircraft swap

Hi friends,
I just wanted to add my hello to the thread. If you click my handle, you'll see that 25 years ago I started SeatGuru right here on Flyertalk. When TripAdvisor shut it down back in November, I took a look around and realized that what these folks had built at AeroLOPA was really special, and the to-scale LOPAs (gotta get used to that term!) are a game changer. I was lucky to get to join the team and spend the last few months in the wonderland that was almost 1500 planes and boatloads of airline and seating data. There's tons of cool tech under-the-hood now, from computer vision to trained models. We've got a platform now that can seriously scale to doing really cool things, and we appreciate your support (and, at times, patience) as we forge new frontiers in airline seating. Best, -Matt |
I used seat maps to pick my United J seat.
Ie: odd window seat in the main cabin (Irony, seat 9A in the mini-cabin was available and almost everyone on FT said that's better even though I'm only 5'9" so I switched) How is AeroLOPA better than seat maps? |
