Thanks for moving the thread to this forum.
I found seatmaps.com which I think is a better concept/alternative to SeatGuru. At least it highlights preferable seats in green and seats to avoid in red but it's not as good as it could be with user feedback and photos |
For some airlines, the dedicated FT forums have threads with helpful posts, often including seat maps and photos.
The BA forum has some of the best, linked to in this post. |
Seat maps (Best site?)
Not sure where this post should be...
For me Seat guru used to be the goto place to get tips on seats, which ones to avoid... Etc But I've found recently that it is getting a bit stale/out of date While I have found plenty of maps they do not seem to have the extra info for example... Reduced legroom /space to to the curve of the aircraft body. Or only partial window... Etc. What tools /sites have you found? Links I've found https://seatmaps.com/ https://www.aerolopa.com/ https://www.seatguru.com/ https://www.airlinequality.com/info/airline-seat-plans/ |
Use Aerolopa
|
seatmaps.com is now my go to! I agree with you about Seat Guru. The planes are not updated, I can’t click on a seat, etc. The other links you posted have no data except for Seat Guru which is not accurate.
|
I’ve also discovered if you don’t like your current choice of seat, keep trying. My flight to London had a terrible seat but I checked back everyday and found a seat I wanted.

I'll be honest I've never understood this site's obsession with aerolopa
- gratuitous animations that require me to wait before i can click on stuff - absolutely tiny fonts everywhere - airline + plane model in the upper left corner of the seat map is pixelated for some reason - information in footnotes that requires you to cross-reference the map…instead of just providing it to you when you hover over the seat immediately. like, i go to https://www.aerolopa.com/as-7m9 and now i have to keep scrolling back and forth to see which row has which pitch? and hope that I notice that past the exit row the pitch differs between the left and right side of the plane. - on desktop, the left sidebar has the list of all airlines. why? when would i ever need to switch from one airline to another quickly? OTOH having all the types for the airline i'm looking at would be helpful since it would make it quicker to switch between variants of the same type when i need to match up against the airline's website. SeatMaps looks great. |
It's because it was made by a FlyerTalk user, specifically Prospero. I'm sure they're open to suggestions on how to make it better.

Authoritative is great but usability is just as critical if not more so. I’ve outlined my issues with it above.
|
AeroLOPA doesn't help me figure out what version of a particular aircraft I'll be flying in - that's why I prefer seatmaps. It's great information except for the multiple versions of the same plane on any airline.

I stopped going to seatguru when they added the option where you had to put your flight number. I hated it. Before you could simply click on the airline and select subtype. I'm happy with aerolopa maps. I agree that maybe they should make small visual distinction for seats with "no window window seat" or no under seat storage or limited recline etc. Until someone comes up with better maps, I'll be ok using aerolopa. |

aeroLOPA is very accurate and is why I use it regularly. aks120 |
SeatGuru has Closed Down
Seaguru has now closed down after almost 25 years of presence. Available options now for those seeking to get seating information per Airline/Frame are Aerolopa and Seatmaps.
