You may want to either remove those screenshots or obscure the AA record locator in them. Not suggesting that FT members have any nefarious means, but this is a public site.

Good point. Done. Thanks. FT folks have a nefarious reputation! ;)

I purchased and have been using FlightView for the past few months. It's OK and also has the option to receive confirmation notices so that it fills in the itinerary automatically (unlike Flight Track that required you to manually add flights). I found the FV widget annoying in that it only indicated that a flight was scheduled instead of actually displaying the time (Note: I see in one of the posts above that it does show the times. Don't why it doesn't for me). The other day, however, I paid more attention to the Kayak widget and noticed that it showed me the flights as well as the times (see screenshot. It shows the two widgets with FV sitting above the Kayak one)! Furthermore, when I followed the link back to the Kayak app, I was presented with a neat and clean graphic detailing both legs of my trip with the anticipated layover times (see other screenshot). Further investigation showed detailed terminal maps--down to the individual restaurant and shop level, weather info, ticket details, booking info, and even the link back to the email containing the confirmation info.
Long story short--I think I've found my Flight Track replacement! And it's even free! (I curious about Flight Update Pro but it has some stiff competition at this point)

hello to all!
i'm following this discussion for a long time...
I miss app of mobiata studio and today i can say that there isn't an other good app like flight tracker 5.
Nestorph you are right, the best way today is kyak app but I can only enter the flight a few days before departure...

But today we have a very good news from GOOGLE!
in apple app stor i find GOOGLE TRIPS.
To date it does not send notifications and news about the flight but it is really well done. I have a lot of confidence in google and I'm convinced that with the upcoming updates we will not miss anything! In the app menu there is also a section to send feedback to google team. Do it all to improve this free application!!!

nestorph May 9, 2017 8:37 am

Reseller: Not sure what you mean. When I send Kayak my reservation information, I get a confirmation back within minutes and the flight is entered into my Kayak account. I can see all of my future trips listed, including hotel reservations if I've sent those along, too.

mi Flight Track

As a long term user of Flight Track Pro, I was shocked and disappointed to discover that Mobiata just switched it off.
I've done a bit of research and found mi Flight Track, which seems very similar to FTP and there is a sister app, mi Flight Board. Maybe not as great as FTP, but a close second maybe. The paid for version is a one-off £3.99 or you can buy a bundle of all the three mi Flight apps for £12.
I hope this is of help

This one does look good, anyone else try it?

I looked at the app and am befuddled at any comparison to Flight Track Pro.

At this point it could be closer to a solar powered toaster oven... If it lets me easily look up and add flights by flight number and city pair, and track my upcoming flights and gate information, with a reasonably decent UI, I'll take it.

I'm testing miFlighttrack now for some weeks and I noticed that several fights of big carriers here in europe where not in ( kl/af, az, all for this summer).
Some om the daily flights from A to B are in but not all the (nonstop) flights.
Only a few days ago they were put in after I've send the app makers a message.

If that is how it will go in the future I might not use this app further.

Variflight flight tracking app

For those using iPhones I would recommend Variflight-Live on Time app. It is free.

It has the flight tracking function that allows users to check real-time flight status, incl. :

---time of arrivals and departures

---take-off time

---landing time

In addition, it displays airport weather and time table info, aircraft type and age.

Download link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id1198164839?mt=8

THANKS!
Very very good this app! it is very young, notifications don't work and other issues but they are on the right way =)

Not bad!

"flight tracker" has still been my default app (mainly for push notifications), with miFlightTrack for all the data (actual takeoff/runway landing, plane notifications"

But This one is aesthetically pleasing. Has some work to do, but liking what I see so far!

One thing my family has asked for that these apps haven't delivered on is the option to change settings to your current time zone. So if I'm flying DEN-ORD, the app would show the flight times all in eastern and not Mountain to Central.

Also - if you click on similar apps (or look from the same developer, "FEEYO.COM E-COMMERCE CORP" - there is a gold "pro" version, but in chinese. From the screenshots it looks like there is some additional content. I don't currently have 0.99, but wondering if someone could take one for the team and buy it and report back?

flyerwma Jun 20, 2017 4:09 pm

Thanks re VariFlight. Am trying it now. Wish it had TripIt integration.

So far I find Flight Update Pro to be the best and AITA to be the most useless.

But still bemoan the loss of FTPro. I still use it to keep track of flights (i.e., to answer friend's questions of "when are you leaving for ----"). But its utility decreases to zero as you get close to flight time. The applicable flight "greys out" about a day before takeoff and becomes useless.

What I ask to you is to share your reviews and requests with developers of Variglight by mail or with a review in the store. It helps a lot of work! Variflight is on the right way ^

Does the The Flight Tracker by Impala Studos still support TripIt? For some reason it doesn't pick up TripIt even though the "button" is switched on..

I do not know if flight tracker is a good app. Customer support is really bad. Send suggestions and they will not answer you

It’s been 8 months. Has anyone found a replacement for flight track pro? I still haven’t. I’ve been juggling between three other apps just to track my flights and nothing compares. FlightView, FlightStats, FlightAware

I’m no longer able to keep a nice history of my flights like flight track pro.

mihaid Nov 14, 2017 2:06 am

To me FlightUpdate is still the closest I could get to FlightTrackPro, having tried 4 or 5 others.

For history, "Flight Tracker" is probably the closest, but I find it lacks a bit more of the in-depth info.

For the rest, although not the prettiest, "Flight Tracker" has all the info.

And I just now realized that both of these have the exact same name displayed under the icon.

For aesthetics - "The Flight Tracker" by Impala Studios

For detailed info - "mi Flight Tracker" by Appeclectic Ltd. - they also have a flightboard app that is pretty good and similar to what FTP had.

I still miss Flight Track Pro though, it was just so good.

But after getting burned by buying the old FlightTrack and then FlightTrack5 which was prettier but functionally worse and never really improved, I'm not sure.

While making a phone call on my iPhone, I happened to notice a pop-up message on my iPad from App in the Air claiming 50% off for Black Friday. However, I have not been able to confirm this by trying to purchase a subscription in the app on my iPhone or iPad. Is there another way to find out whether they meant 50% off one year or lifetime?

quick_dry Dec 4, 2017 1:35 am

Flight Tracker by impala studios is the one I've settled on as a Flight Track Pro replacement - but every time I open it up I feel sad that it isn't FTP and wish they'd never had to shut it down.

Hi everyone, after searching for a flight tracking app to use after FlightTrack we decided to take it into our own hands and build the most powerful and beautiful app ourselves.

We are a group of designers, developers, and flight nerds creating @FlightyApp

To make sure we don’t only build what we want but also what you want it would help us a lot if you could take our 3 min survey on flightyapp.com. In doing so, you can gain beta access to our exciting new app and a chance to win free Flighty for life.

RedElmo Feb 4, 2018 2:48 pm

Flightyapp? Cool. I’ll give it a shot.

I didn't see it mentioned on your survey, but I'm much more inclined to pay a one time payment ($10-20) rather then a subscription model that everyone seems to be using now.

Thanks for your input. We haven't decided on a business model yet. Both one time purchase, subscription based or the option to buy packages with flights are on the table.

mihaid Feb 5, 2018 9:30 am

How I will have to pay for such an app (a one-time, lifetime subscription or every year) is the least relevant part for me. If the app does what is supposed to do, I will pay for it, yearly or one-time, it doesn’t really matter.
My actual concern is if the app will really be a good replacement for FlightTrack. As I wrote here previously, after FlightTrack’s demise I tried pretty much every app out there and none was even close to FlightTrack. All were a waste of money, as I deleted them after a few days. The only app that, in my opinion: 1.came closer to what FlghtTrack used to do and 2. was not cluttered with lots of useless stuff still is FlightUpdatePro. However, the developer(s) of FlightUpdatePro promised to listen to feedback and tweak the app to get it where it needed to be. This happened up to a point and then nothing. I really hope this will not be the case with Flightyapp but we will have to see. I cannot wait to play with the beta version.

mihaid Feb 5, 2018 9:49 am

Actually I am having second thoughts. I would rather have this subscription based. This way, if the app won’t be what I hoped for, at least I will have less of rip-off feeling when I’ll be disappointed and I won’t renew the subscription. And I guess a subscription-based app will be a better incentive for the developer to keep it up.

We are not going to recreate Flight Track, but hopefully create something even better.
Also, we will of course offer free trials if we go subscription based. Customer trust is important to us, and everyone should have a chance to try the product before they choose to pay for it.

The Original FlightTracker App

So I think we all know how good the original Flight Tracker app for iOS was. Sadly its been replaced by a bloated impostor that is full of useless info like all the codeshares and makes it difficult to see what plane the flight will be operated with etc. MyFlights is also no longer ;-( which I fear is irreplaceable. I feel 2017/2018 have seen a significant downgrade in terms of travel apps. I am now using:

Flightradar24 to search for flights on specific routes
Tripit to keep things organised (but the interface has much to be desired)
Flight Tracker to search/track flights but it is not by any means ideal.

So FlyerTalk what apps are you using in 2018?
