Convert an .M2TS file

Convert an .M2TS file
Can anyone recommend a program to convert this to something easily viewable? My daughter receiced a Canon HF 10 for Christmas that outputs M2TS files and would like to share videos with us (grandparents) and others. Free is best, but willing to spend a few bucks for something good and easy.

Does the Canon software not provide other output formats?

You could try the FFDSHOW codec for the Windows Media Player. A free download that plugs into the video player that comes with Windows.

I have not converted M2TS files with it, but I have been a long time Super user for many video conversions without any problems
