Quick Setup Question for New Desktop
OK, there are many tech experts here... new HP desktop connected to a 22 inch monitor via HDMI cable. There are built in speakers on the monitor and so far, I haven't gotten a sound out of them. Originally connected to the computer with the green speaker cable that came with the monitor. Then I figured that maybe with a HDMI cable, I didn't need separate speaker cable to enable the monitor speakers.
But still no joy! Any ideas?

although did not ask, run decrapifier to get rid of most of that free stuff.
then run tuneUp utilities to get rid of almost all the rest.
tuneUp utilities can probably install the speakers. it's free for a month.

Depending on the graphics device, and how they wired it internally, there may or may not be audio available on the hdmi cable.
The green audio cable should have worked, but you may have needed to configure the speakers on the PC to get the right output turned on. I think it's usually done through the "sound and audio" control panel. You should probably take a look at that, as that's where any audio-related options would be anyway.

The other thing that's worth trying is that if you have any known working computer speakers, perhaps on another system, maybe you can try them with the green cable also, on the new system. Headphones would work also for this, just to prove that the audio device is working.
