Good point.

They've got something up their sleeve but, as is typically Apple, who knows what?

But as a relatively new iPhone owner, I only have 3 ½ screens filled thus far. :p

10.5 screens... :o

All screens and spots full :D... That's 180 apps if you count the four on the bottom. It's a pain. Every time I want to test-drive an app, I have to think of which one to delete.

you can actually install more than that, but you will need to access any apps past the 11th screen by name via a spotlight search.

Cool! I did not know this trick. I just assumed those extra apps didn't get installed. Now to work on remembering the names of all these extra invisible apps.

Just purchased PicTranslator (probably in part because the ad video was shot in Le Pichet in Seattle!). Did not read carefully enough and discovered after I uploaded it that with a 3G, letters have to be at least 1" high! I don't think it will be very useful for translating menus........

Apparently, the camera in a 3GS is much better.

i've never used it, but griffin makes an iphone case with a built-in closeup lens for the camera, which might help:

I have that case. It works as described - you can take a photo of a business card and the text is good enough to be OCR'd.

Air Tycoon

Didn't get any search hits for this - I just downloaded the game Air Tycoon onto my iPod Touch. You manage your own airline - routes, plane types, personnel, etc. If anyone is familiar with the old Aerobiz games, this is very similar. Sadly, the planes aren't branded with actual company names, but they should be recognizable. A very solid game, and should appeal to many on these boards.

Funny to see this. I must have searched FT for this a good 6 weeks back, and too was surprised to not find a hit. I've had the game for a while, and it indeed is very entertaining, particularly for an FT audience.

One very positive thing to say about the game is that its one of my few apps that continues to put out new releases on a fairly frequent basis. In the 2 months that I have had it, there must have been 4 upgrades. The number of cities and planes keep increasing, and they have fixed various bugs. The latest version, however, has a bug with their new function that allows you to do acquisitions of other airlines. And I think the hardest level is still too easy, granted I am basically an expert at it by now!

But a great game.

I used to use "Currency", I also noticed that it didn't update very frequently. Looking at XE, I found the rates matched more closely

Thanks - just made the switch!

mSecure vs SplashID

Appreciate feedback from users of either one of these password apps? I know splashID also works on BB.

I use SplashID and like it a lot as it synchronises with my work and home PCs over wifi. This does mean you need Bonjour on each though, which I didn't previously have on my work machine. It's not quite as convenient as my email, calendar, contacts which synchronise over the internet without me needing to do anything, but I guess it's a little more secure.

Flight Control is still my favourite - high score of 1909 on the original airfield and 326 on the tropical one. Can't seem to crack the aircraft carrier though.

other favourites:
Files Lite - really useful for storing files when on the road (joining instructions, maps/directions etc)
Sling Player - so I can watch UK telly when I am away!
Night Stand - great alarm clock!
KillerSudoku - another addiction - I can pass a transatlantic flight with half a dozen deadly puzzles!
thetrainline - useful for storing UK timetables
and of course...
LiveATC

An offline FlyerTalk app would be cool...
