The browser IS GOOD. It loads everything as it should, it has a zoom out/zoom in mode, it handles forms, tables, CSS and anything else I throw at it.
But there really is no comparing it to the iPhone. Safari really is brilliant, and IMHO the best thing the iPhone has going for itself. AS LONG AS YOU WANT BASIC BROWSING. As soon as you want to paste something into a form, or even just for longer session, it becomes a PITA. The on screen scrolling/zooming is cool at first, but after 10 minutes it drives you insane.
I most certainly wouldn't call the newest BB browser crappy.

I don't know if this applies or not, but I've noticed on Windows mobile devices (also mini-USB to USB) that most of the retractable cables I've purchased have not recharged my units, but the standard cables generally do. I'm not sure what is going on here, but I suspect that the retractable cables are not implementing all the necessary connections for recharging.

When I was upgrading from a Blackjack I a couple of months ago I knew I wanted 3g (for tethering) and GPS which instantly eliminated the iPhone (lacked both) and Blackberry (lacked 3g) offerings. I ended up with the Blackjack II and I'm very happy with everything it does. Now the Bold has both and looks very promising, as does the iPhone 3g if tethering is supported. Luckily through my company I was able to get the Blackjack II for free (refurb) on a 1yr contract. Sometime in April '09 I'll be looking very closely at the iPhone, Bold, and hopefully a 3g version of the Thunder. Even then, I'll likely stick with a WinMo phone as I've been able to sneak by on the $15/mo unlimited MediaNet package, something I'd have to give up with much higher data rates on the iPhone and especially on the Blackberry.

I just upgraded at work to a Curve from a very very old BB - it's a great device but I am currently carrying around my jailbreaked [sic] iPod tocuch for media etc.
Prior to the iPhone 2.0 being released i was chatting to my IT guys about whether the new iPhone was going to be able to un teh same form of email as the BB and they seemed to think it would. Wed currently do not alow email push which I think is the way that email on the iPhone works - but I could be completely wrong in this.
So the question for me is whether I could integrate my iPhone 2.0 (if I bought one) with our BB based mobile comms solution.
Any thoughts?

In theory you could add the iPhone to your Exchange server setup (which is placed before the blackberry servers). But that would require your IT people to support it, and I'm pretty sure most enterprises won't be too keen to add iPhones to their infrastructure.

Actually they will support it - but I would need to provide my own data plan and fund all my own calls - currently I have a BB fully funded by the company. Given the overseas travel and calls - I would be a little reluctant to go this way. I am a bit of an apple geek but funds are fixed...

That would be a pretty cool feature. I'm looking forward to seeing how much the iPhone will cost at Vodafone in New Zealand and what contract they'll want to lock you in for.

I'd lay down money that it will be a considerably better deal than what we've got in the US. It couldn't be much worse...

On the integration front, I recall reading that some IFE vendors wanted to support iPods, actually letting people dock or sync with IFE music choices.
If they just provide USB ports so you can keep your iPod/iPhone charged during a long flight, that would be nice.
I'd be curious to see cars with iPod dock support. Or are we talking about aftermarket or dealer-installed kits?
Looks like more and more OEM stereos come with Aux jacks and while these are nice, it would be nicer to have what is on the iPod displayed on the dash somewhere.

It uses the OEM Nissan adapter a year before it was available on the new cars. Many new cars are much better, usually displaying the playlists and songs in a much more user friendly way on the screen. Even better is the Ford Sync system, which makes everything voice activated as well as shown on the screen.
I have had an iPod dock in our last three cars, and for the iPhone it's great since it plays the songs, usually control it through the steering wheel, charges the phone, allows you to connect with bluetooth through the car speakers, and speak through the car microphone. When a call comes in, it automatically mutes the audio. You can also answer with the phone itself to keep the call private. The address book downloads to the car and I could dial / pick from the contacts list from the center display or the nav screen.
Now if the iPhone supported bluetooth streaming audio, you wouldn't even need the dock except to charge.
