I don't know if this applies or not, but I've noticed on Windows mobile devices (also mini-USB to USB) that most of the retractable cables I've purchased have not recharged my units, but the standard cables generally do. I'm not sure what is going on here, but I suspect that the retractable cables are not implementing all the necessary connections for recharging.
