Using a web enabled phone as a modem
Just bought a DASH-am liking it,big step up for a tech chalenged guy like me.
It has stereo blue tooth and some other great features that I will have to learn how to use.
Has a micro usb port,
How do I use it as a modem for a lap top when I travel

The easiest way for a non-techie to tether a laptop is to acquire a kit from your carrier that includes a "data cable" and the modem software.
For the more technical, the cable can be got from eBay, and the modem drivers can be found on the HTC web site.

the cheapest way to is to learn how to tether without the carrier noticing. I use a product called pdanet, which simple leverages the EDGE connectivity and AUTHENTICATION that the device already has.
Since you have a slow data connection on the DASH (although, usuable and about 2x what a dialup modem would offer) you could just use the BLUETOOTH connection for data transportn and internet sharing. Bluetooth has a max thoughput of about 400kps, so when I use my MOGUL which does 1MB download speeds on the sprint EVDO network, I normally use the USB cable to get the full speed of the data connection.

Ok-I tried this yesterday.
Tethering my Dash to my new Asus4G using the directions in the Dash booklet
tethered with an A to mini-B USB cable .
Phone read check USB connection which seemed fine.
What am I doing wrong?

Just a quick note: make sure data-tethering is included and will not incur extra fees if you plan to use it extensively. I am not familiar with T-Mobile's data plan structure, but certain plans do require you to add a pda-as-modem option in order to avoid those ridiculous charges!

MS moblie not compatible with Linux?
I was talking with a tech savvy friend and he suggested that my problem with tethering my Tmobile Dash to my Asus EEE might have to do with the fact that I have Linux on my EEE and that the MS mobile might not be compatible 
Short of dowloading xp(which I really do not want to do-glad to be away from MS)is there a workaround?
