Sprint EVDO Sans Contract
ATT does not require you to sign a contract for bring your own equipment hook ups. If you take a laptop with a built-in EVDO card, is there any way to activate it with Sprint on a month-to-month contract.

Actually, I'm not so sure this is possible on Sprint for Data. AFAIK currently only T-mobile and ATT offer contract free stuff without equipment. Sprint does do month to month, but I always read that it was only for minutes, not data.

Although my data connections using Sprint data cards have generally been OK, my understanding is that you need a two year contract.
As to Sprint's cell phone service, about 90% of my calls are involuntarily disconnected. Beware.

YMMV: I experience, at most, 1% disconnection, and even less than that with my Sprint EvDO card.

I switched to Sprint from T-mobile last year. I was REALLY skeptical about it, but they have actually surprised me. Call quality isn't as good as on GSM, but signal is rock solid and calls never drop on me. Now with EVDO Rev.A I'm getting almost 1.5mbit downloads. T-mobile STILL doesn't have 3G, and no firm date when they will have it.

Sprint will not activate your own equipment without a contract...period. http://www.sprintusers.com is a great resource. Check out the discounts...at a very minimum you should qualify for the 10% off savings.
My advice is to take over someone else's contract at http://www.celltradeusa.com
Also, what laptop do you have that includes the built in SPRINT EVDO? I'm aware of Lenovo's Verizon EVDO but that is locked to VZW's service.
