iPods do not run out of battery charge after 4 hours of use! I've used mine for the entire length of an LAX-CDG nonstop (except the "no electronics" bits on either end, obviously) and still had enough juice left for a taxi ride into town. If you're watching video, 4 hours seems more plausible, but not for music.
) and got a good 4-5 hours of video plus audio for the balance of the time. But as soon as they dim the cabin lights I reduce the iPod to minimum brightness.I also use an iGo Xtender for that extra power needed on my iPod, eBook reader, cell phone, etc. If you already use iGo (i.e. have the tips) its fairly inexpensive.

If you go to your local electronics store, you'll find lots of third-party gadgets that provide external batteries for your 'pod, in order to extend its life.
