Scanner with ADF Recommendations

Hi,
Given the increased number of paperwork (i.e. statements, bills, etc), I though it would be a good idea to get an inexpensive scanner with ADF. I don't need anything sophisticated (office-level), but a good inexpensive scanner with the ADF feature. I would prefer if I could set the scanner up to automatically scan a number of documents to PDF and store them in a folder.

One that has gotten decent reviews is Xerox DocuMate 510 (newegg.com). I have an old HP Scanjet IIcx (SCSI), but it does not have the automatic document feeder.

The purpose of the scanner would be to have auto-feed functionality for statements, bills, etc.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

The odd thing about this as I looked for one a while back (for use at someone's desk in the office) is that the cheapest way to get an ADF scanner is to buy a multifunction printer/scanner/copier box. You can go as low as $100 range for an inkjet unit or around $200 for a laser. The Xerox unit might be a little faster, not sure, but it's $300 and only scans. This is what I kept running into, scanner-only units with ADF were into that $300 range and higher. I would consider getting something like this Canon laser all in one http://www.amazon.com/Canon-imageCLA...2983509&sr=8-1 Sells for $239 there but I saw it for $189 on Costco.com if you happen to be a member.

I can't speak to having actually used it. Just something I was considering. A coworker just bought the non-ADF version of this box, which I am also very likely to buy at home, and it works well. I would probably not recommend the Brother inkjet we bought at work just for its simple scanning capability. It's a bit too finicky. We got what we paid for.

I've got a Brother MFC-8860DN. Among other things, it's got a scanner. It will feed and scan both sides of a stack of papers. I'd recommend it!

We recently purchased the DocuMate as well after trying to review many of the less expensive all-in-one units. We have an HP all-in-one and the problem with it is that it scans into jpgs, which you then have to convert into pdf and it just takes too long when doing multiple page scans. With the DocuMate, it goes straight into pdf format and is very fast. If scanning is your main concern, with the output into pdf, it is a great unit.

have a cheap cannon and an expensive cannon. the cheap one has an ADF, but does not ADF. sends thru packs of pages at a time. the expensive cannon works great.

just because it has an adf, does not mean that it works.

I was considering one of the scanjets, however, recent insight on reliability of the ADF (Per Newegg customer reviews) swayed me to stay away.

I think I'll try the Xerox Documate. I will report back -

Thanks for the input!

My travel expense receipts are mostly little credit card receipts that are too small for ADF.

For that scanning task, I've seen this product demonstrated in airports. Has anyone tried it?
