Using handheld GPS while in the air?
Hi,
I have a handheld GPS device (GARMIN Legend) that I used to play with for a while. Now I have a built-in Navigation system in my car, and my Garmin toy is sitting on a shelf collecting dust. I was thinking of other interesting ways of using it.
Can anybody confirm if I can use handheld GPS device while flying on a commercial airplane? (1) Would it work at all? and (2) Is it allowed by airlines regulations?
Thanks!

Delta allows them on their flights.

I've got the USB version that comes with Microsoft Streets and Trips and have used it on the plane. There was passenger on a flight who complained to the crew about it and they asked me to not use it. Now if I ever want to use it on a flight I ask the crew before using it.

The jetblue website says they are safe to use. http://help.jetblue.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN...e=obj(2218)#s1)
I would print out a copy of the website in case someone asks you.
