Glossy vs. Matte MacBook Pro

I'm finally going to get a Mac. And now they have released a glossy screen for the Mac Book Pro. I've always used a dell laptop with the traditional matte, low glare screen. But the glossy Mac screen looks really nice, with vivid colors. I'll be using the laptop for showing photos, watching movies, editing photos. But will the glossy glare bother me in airplanes? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

If you're lucky, then glossy glare will bother you in an airplane.

If you're like me and ..hmm.. pretty much anyone I know, then glossy glare will bother you everywhere and anywhere -- except, perhaps, in total darkness.

Needless to say, if you want something that "uhh, looks pretty", and you don't plan on actually using the laptop for anything other than to look pretty, then glossy may be the thing

If you want a laptop to, you know, play games, watch movies, photos, emails, browse the www or even do work on, then you'll want matte.

Hmmm, I love the glossy. I watch movies on it and love the way it looks. The screen has never bothered me. I used it for work and I have used it outside. Pictures look great on it. Anyway it's my latest mac. I'm a mac person; I had an Apple IIe and then the classic and then , well it's been a long time.

I've lived my computing life solely on Mac notebooks since the 140. At this point my hubby and I have owned at least 2 dozen...

We both moved to the glossy screen. Wow. it's gorgeous. I thought I would be bothered by the reflection but frankly haven't really noticed it. You will need to clean your screen more often, especially if you have a cat that likes to sneeze on it

I am very sensitive to light, to reflections and visual distractions. I am the most nearsighted person I know and too often glasses and screens will interact to drive me crazy. But not on this new Mac Book Pro.

I am typing this response on my new MacBook Pro - glossy. People have stated that reflections and glare are a factor with a glossy display. I have found none.

If I'm ever in a situation where I'd need to do some serious programming, I would plug the MacBook into an external display anyways, which all have matte.

Go for the glossy.

Glossy for movie watching, matte for work

In nearly all cases professionals doing video, graphics and photography prefer the Matte display, which supposedly offers more accurate colors. People who are mostly watching movies, photos, etc seem to prefer the glossy display.

Very few people seem to regret what they buy.
