Problems with newest version of I Tunes!!!!

I have the 30G video IPod (not the 5th generation) and over the weekend I upgraded to the newest version of ITunes. I have had problems with my IPod freezing since. I called Apple support and the only help that they gave me was a bunch of articles via my e-mail. My IPod is out of warrenty and I did not purchase the extended warrenty. I did get the guy to admit that he has had several calls regarding this issue. My problem is not when I am playing the songs but when I try to play the videos. Before I got the 30G video IPod, I had the Mini with no problems other than needing to replace the battery. My daughter also has the Nano and has no problems either. I am using a PC with Windows XP.

Has anyone else experience this problem? If so, how did you solve it?
Thanks

Off the cuff I can think of two or three ideas...likely all of these were suggested by apple

First is the simplest, have you re-booted it? Hold down Menu and the center click button for like 5 seconds...

Secondly, wipe it and start anew. In iTunes click on the iPod and click the restore button...it will wipe it and then reload the latest version of firmware and then reload your music

Finally, try syncing to a different computer or at least get some different videos. One of the more recent changes was to a more processor intensive format, while the iPod should be able to handle it, who knows...

If all that fails, it may be the hard drive...they do fail and I could see video going first since its demands a higher bitrate... I'm not sure if Spinrite (google it) will work on an iPod but if you find some documentation on it then it may be worth the $90...
