Skype for Blackberry

Has anyone tried Skype for Blackberry? Does it actually work and would it save on roaming charges? I'm thinking this might add to costs. Most cell providers cap the monthly data transfer so I can see that using skype on a BB would rapidly increase the monthly data used and in the end you'd be hit with a big fat bill.

Found other useful things on handango.com but I'm not sure about the skype thingy.

After just a quick glance it looks like its basically doing a callback...
you IM the number and then your phone rings you, you answer and Skype calls the number you sent in the IM....so with the exception of the IM, there isn't really any skype data being sent.

I got really excited as I've been looking for a SIP client for the BB for a while and skype would get me close...but I've always heard that they dont have the processing power for VoIP...

I could also have totally mis-read the info about the app too

This looks a lot like Jajah which does a callback like service...pretty cool stuff. I think we are going to see a lot of these, until the cell providers either A) give us unlimited plans or B) block these services...

There is something really weird about this app, first of all it isn't made by Skype (which means it can't be a true Skype client) and secondly in the description it doesn't sound like a true skype client at all:

Incoming calls:
Call from contact person comes to Skype messenger and then to the desktop service that are running on your PC. Desktop service notifies your mobile client about an incoming call. Via SkypeOut network the call will be forwarded to your mobile phone, so the phone will start ringing. After you answer the call, the conversation will begin. The call is possible due to Skype credit on your SkypeOut account.

Which to me sounds like a normal fowarding system. One you can set up in your skype prefs anyway so why get this app?
