Internet Explorer 7 Question

OK, I downloaded IE7, and here is the problem I keep running into: I am having trouble with the copy and paste... if I highlight a URL and go to the dropdown Edit menu, most of the time the "Copy" command will NOT be chooseable. What's up with this?

Are you talking about copying a URL from the address bar? When I highlight the URL in the address bar and then click on the Edit drop menu I lose my highlighting. I can still highlight the URL and right-click copy or control + c. I don't think I've ever used the edit drop menu for copying and pasting.

If I highlight text within the webpage I have no problem using the edit menu to copy.

Yes, I am talking about copying a URL from the top bar... with IE6, I would highlight the URL and then Edit/Copy and then eventually Paste. Now this doesn't work.

as gj83 says, you can copy a highlighted URL by using the right mouse or trackpad button aka right click and then choose copy from the pop-up menu or use Ctrl-C .

People have requested that the old way work at least since february 2006 as shown near the end of

Right click the Command Bar. Go to Customize Command Bar/Add or Remove Commands and add the copy and paste icons to your Command Bar.

Now you can highlight the URL in the Address Bar, click the copy icon to copy the URL and click the paste icon to paste it.

If you want the standard menu bar back, right click on the bar one of the bars at the top of the browser, and check the 'menu bar' option. It will return the traditional 'file', 'edit', 'view', 'favorites', 'tools', 'help' options...
