Internet Explorer 7 is worth the trouble and the wait

Well MS has officially released IE7 now:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...s/default.mspx

So it's a bit early! LOL!

Anyway, version # 7 finally catches IE up with the common browser features, including tabbed windows and it also offers improved Web standards support I think its also somewhat more secure by default.

I'd download it, if you're running Windows, since it's free! LOL!

Yes, I like this browser! :)

Also, btw, if you think you got an email form MS, caution:

Trojan Hidden Inside Spoofed Microsoft E-mail Message Discovered

SurfControl is currently tracking a malicious Trojan Downloader concealed in a spoofed e-mail message claiming to be from Microsoft. The e-mail appears to come from [email protected], and offers recipients a link to download Release Candidate 1 of Microsoft Internet Explorer 7...

Go to the Microsoft site to get the new IE7 release:

Improved but behind other browsers

Microsoft Upgrades
Internet Explorer --
But Not Much Is New
October 19, 2006;

Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser is one of the most-used software products in the world. It is the main tool through which most computer users view the entire Internet.

But IE hasn't had a significant overhaul in five long years. That has allowed competitors like Mozilla's Firefox and Apple's Safari to leap ahead in terms of features. In fact, many of the savviest Web users have abandoned IE in recent years, partly because of the growing feature gap and partly because of IE's persistent security problems.

Why? It now does what Firefox has been doing for years. What is in IE 7 that would have made it worth using a substandard browser for the past 2-3 years?

From CNet review:

....IE 7 was Microsoft's one chance to leapfrog ahead of the competition, but the company has only barely caught sight of the current front-runners.

That said, everyone should upgrade to IE 7 when offered the chance, even if you never intend to use it. Because Internet Explorer is so tightly bound within Windows XP SP2 (for example, if you view an HTML document in Microsoft Word, you're using IE technology), it's better to have the improved code within IE 7 running on your system than not. But for a truly secure Internet browser with more features, we still recommend Mozilla Firefox.

BTW, I use to 99% Internet Explorer, very seldom Firefox .. I am just used to IE.

A new record for Microsoft. It hasn't been out for 24 hours and already the first vulnerability has been found:

Not that I've noticed, although having many tabs open slows down much less than having many windows open did under IE 6.

I think I'll wait a while to download it. Perhaps until the first service pack comes out. In the meantime I'll continue to use Opera as my primary browser.
