Connection is active, but IE says;
Network Service Engine Report (on a green bar)
Host is unreachable or DNS server could not resolve the DNS name (on a yellow bar)
Tech support was here for an hour. He seemed to think it was a problem with my VPN, but my VPN is not Connected.

Also, are you attempting to connect via wired ethernet or Wi-Fi?
On the surface (if your VPN is not on)...I'd say it's an issue at their end, not yours.
Just for giggles you might want to check IE/Tools/Internet Options, then click on the "Connections" tab and then the "LAN Settings" button and then make sure the "Automatically Detect Settings" box is checked (after making the change you should shut down IE for at least 20 seconds before firing it up again). Don't know if that has anything to do with your problem, but it might help.

What type of VPN client? Sonicwall, Watchguard, IPsec, etc.? Does the hotel have IPSec pass through on? I would think most would, but it sounds like it might be blocking your access. can you connect with the VPN client at all? More info needed...

I just re-read your post. If it is a DNS (Domain Name Service) server problem it isn't on your end, and you won't be able to use the Internet because the service that translates 192.192.30.100 to www.whatever.com is unavailable. No DNS = no websurfing. Strange that the primary and secondary DNS are done. If you are saavy you could manually enter DNS servers into your IP configuration.

Thanks. I know how to enter the DNS server manually, but I don't know WHAT server to use? Is there a generic one? I dont think I should have to getit from my company since I'm not even connected to their VPN. Do I get it from the hotel internet people?
To answer other questions, its a Cisco VPN clinet (not inuse) and wired internet.

Also, I called the tech support, and asked for the DNS server. They said they had to get approval to give it to me, and would call back. Is that normal?

1. You DO NOT need to upgrade the firmware.
2. It is a software issue probably not with your machine.
3. DNS servers are not a state secret.
Here are two you can use they are Charter DNS servers.
24.196.64.53
68.115.71.53
If that doesn't work I'd see if there is a translation problem at the switch.

I think the AG3000 the hotel is using has maxed out on its licenses and needs renewal. The tech got on right away because he already had a valid 24 hour license. This problem is well documented with the service's other large customer Hampton Inns in the US. If you call Nomadix support they can "get you in" but not too convenient for non-US locales.
