Universal power block?

My wife asked me today what I want for Christmas. I can't think of anything I really need, but as I went into my bag to fish out my power cables, I thought it would be nice to have one of those universal power blocks, like the iGo Juice.

I searched but didn't find anything definitive.

I would need to charge a Dell laptop, a Samsung phone, a Blackberry, and and iPod.

Any specific suggestion on what to ask for? I'd really like to be able to send my wife a link to exactly what I would need.

TIA.

if you have a current model Dell, you don't want an IGO juice--it won't charge the battery.

Some Dells are just fine on the iGo.... it's just the behemoth desktop replacements that aren't. If your stock Dell AC adapter weighs in at over 5 lbs, it likely won't run off the iGo. Which model do you have? Also, I can't recall where so you'll have to do a search but I've heard of problems with Samsung phones and iGo tips. I have a tip for an S307 that didn't hurt the phone but wouldn't charge it either.

THis is what I use. It has an AC outlet, so anything will plug into it. Also, a USB charging port. Has an airline and lighter adapter.

I was thinking about buying the small 70W version (for my Thinkpad X40) of this one these from KENSINGTON http://us.kensington.com/html/1422.html

I hear they would be considerably lighter than an iGo, at least the 70W version (http://uk.kensington.com/html/6833.html). Has anyone seen a comparison between Kensigton / iGo ?

Hey that looks perfect! I just bought one from Oevrstock.com. Does it work in EmPower ports?

Yes, I've used it on Delta and American.

I've been looking for an affordable solution for this for a while.

Nice piece of equipment, but looks like a big brick and you still have to carry your normal AC adapter for your notebook. Haven't seen nor weighed the Kensington AC/DC universal adapters yet, but looks like a more compact solution: just one brick does it all:AC, Car and Air + can charge PDA's/Phones as well (as explained here http://us.kensington.com/html/9300.html)

It's pretty light, and I need to carry my AC anyway. My Dell won't charge from those universal adapters.

The Xantrex is even cooler when you add the PowerPack battery to it:

new igo

there is a NEW igo adaptor, with plugs and fittings for most device. changes from 3, to 5, 7 9 12 and 15v. Will do airline, plugs and 100-240 and CAR

should be out early Dec. Here is a linky.

then, you just buy the TIP that you need for whatever device. The 5v Center positive yellow tip is becoming pretty universal these days

Weird, specs look identical to my iGo Juice with DualPower. Unless it is able to power more stuff I don't see what is "new and hot" about it...

tips

I think there are tips in this one, that are more universal. As well, it will power TWO devices, will the previous one do that?
my igo juice only does one at a time.
