Treo 650 - Data with Cingular, voice with Rogers?
Does anyone know whether I can use the same Treo with a subscription to Cingular's data network and use Roger's (Canada) for my voice on the same phone?
If yes, what's the best order of subscribing? The phone is less expensive through Cingular, so I'd like to get it that way if possible.
Why would I want to do this? Data is cheaper with Cingular, even if I use it in Canada occasionally. But Roger's has a US/Canada calling plan with no roaming charges, something that Cingular doesn't have anymore. And work requires use of the Treo if I want a connection to the email servers there.

Nope, won't work. The phone can only use one network at a time, and a Rogers SIM won't let you connect to a Cingular GPRS access point (or VV). Besides that, if you are a Canadian you won't be able to get Cingular without a large desposit.
Sorry. FWIW, I have heard rumors about Rogers work on cheaper data plans, time will tell.

I'm not sure if the OP is asking if he can use them at the same time. If that isn't the case, then yes, you can have a plan with each vendor and switch between the two depending if you want to use data (or be in the US) or voice in Canada.
Otherwise, Scooby is right.

I was kind of hoping that I could use the two different services (voice and data) at the same time, but not really expecting it would work.
I'll get the Treo through work (US employer) and use it for data only. I'll keep my Roger's plan for voice. Who knows, if Rogers does drop their data rates maybe I can use the same device for voice and data.
Thanks for the help.
